Way Too Early 2018 NBA Finals Odds

Way Too Early 2018 NBA Finals OddsThe 2016-17 NBA Finals have ended and the Golden State Warriors are your new NBA champions. After making one of the biggest offseason acquisitions in NBA history when they signed Kevin Durant, the Warriors beat the Cavaliers in just 5 games and KD took home the MVP trophy.

The Warriors were the wire-to-wire favorites from the start of the season through the Finals and now that the 2018 NBA Finals betting odds have already been posted, they will likely be in the running to do the same again next year.

The Warriors are the overwhelming favorite at BetOnline Sportsbook as they currently rest at -165. The Cavaliers obviously have the second best odds at +450. Everybody else’s odds are up into the thousands. The Spurs are the closest contender at +1000 while the Boston Celtics have +1600 odds (expect this odds to increase significantly if a certain player in Indiana is traded there in the offseason).

Same Old…Just A Different Day

Regardless of offseason moves though, I think it’s safe to say we can expect yet another rematch in the Finals between the Warriors and Cavaliers. That would make four years in a row as both teams are just so much better than every other team in their respective conferences and after this convincing Finals victory, I don’t think anybody would argue that the Warriors are head-and-shoulders above the rest of the league as a whole.

Golden State went 16 and 1 in the playoffs and their only loss came in Game 4 of the Finals against a Cleveland team facing elimination and they had to set four NBA records to win that game including most three-pointers in a Finals game (23), most points scored in a finals quarter (49), and most points scored in a finals half (80).

Does Anybody Else Have a Shot Next Year?

The rest of the NBA will need to throw money at big name free agency and attempt blockbuster trades to compete with these two teams so prepare for exactly that moving forward.

The Boston Celtics are the most talked about team in the NBA when it comes to potential moves. They made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals this year but are clearly a piece or two away from competing with LeBron James and company. They have the number one overall pick in the upcoming draft and for those of you betting on the 2017 NBA draft, it may be safe to bet on a potential trade for Paul George. At least that’s the hottest rumor out there at the moment. They have also been linked to potentially signing Gordon Hayward as well.

The Spurs have also been in the news as of late after ESPN.com’s Mac Stein reported that Chris Paul will consider the San Antonio Spurs in his free agency stint.

BestUSASportsbooks.com thinks at the very least, these potential moves could add some much need parody into the NBA because once the playoffs start, it’s become a countdown to when we get to see the Warriors and Cavs.
